Davo was born in Mexico City and raised in San Francisco. Athletic and musically gifted, he took advantage of coming of age in a city where jazz, latin and rock were all richly observed traditions undergoing rapid transformations. As an aspiring professional, Davo saw legends Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, Ella Fitzgerald, Weather Report, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, with each leaving an indelible mark on his developing performance skills.

The instruments that Davo can call his own are as diverse as his stylistic interests. Piano, bass, trumpet, Percussion and drums are his main axes, but he also can play guitar, ukulele, transverse and nose flute. He is also a singer, and arranges vocals beautifully.

Some artist that heÊ»s played with include, Carlos Santana, Larry Graham, Sammy Hagar, Pete Escovito, Shelia E., and some of California and HawaiiÊ»s best studio musicians.

Davo Coria is the rare person who can watch a piece of film or theater and know exactly what the music wants to be. It’s as if the silent pictures speak to him. We have been together in the studio on many occasions over the last thirty plus years, and his originality always shines through. I always look forward to the next collaboration.
